Jimmy's in the House!
New York City, on a warm summer night and the sounds of hot Latin Swing can almost be heard as we make our way up the block on Westchester Avenue, in the Bronx. Silence the Elevated Train, the fire and police sirens that occasionally streak by and if you stop on the corner of Taylor Ave you can feel the energy, and if you really listen you can hear the swing.
Now, In my opinion, there are three things that keep a performer coming back to Willie's: 1. Solid Swing - No explanation necessary. Performers will know it if they are not up to it; 2. The group connecting with the audience; and 3. Timeliness (it starts at 7:30), In this case, Jimmy not only is rock solid on all three, but is an intelligent, non arrogant musician .. (although, I did notice several trombone players in the audience with their axes.). He produces a tight sound and to witness a performance is to want to dance. Jimmy is quickly establishing his brand and the word is spreading, from New York to LA. In conclusion , "Pa - lante, Jimmy, God Bless you". Until next time, check out all our articles and I need more participation from our readers because in you, " Esta la Clave " Elvin Acosta / Enbreve.com |
