Troke!

Who would've known that this 7 year old Cuatro Player that was inspired  by Jibaro (Puerto Rican folk style or country) music would grow to become an inspiring R&B-Salsa Soul singer? Born in Bayamon, P.R. and raised in the city of Newark, NJ Jose Hernandez Jr. also known as Troke has been lightly knocking on the doors of the music industry for years, and is now  ready to knock them down. Currently releasing his debut album "Better Late Than Never" Troke reintroduces himself as the singer/producer/songwriter and musician of the album. It hasn't been 3 years since he produced his freshman album "The Alliance" which featured up and coming Hip Hop artist from NJ, along with his ability to produce tracks.

History-Music has been the blood flowing through the vanes of Troke since birth. Naturally picking up a Guitar and playing tunes by ear was just a sign that there was something unique about this 6 year old who always imitated his father singing and playing. Seeing something evolving, his parents quickly enrolled him to Music Lessons, and his first instrument was the "Cuatro" (A 5 doubled stringed guitar, typical instrument of Puerto Rico). After 3 months of taking lessons, he decided to branch off to his own being that he wanted to play music rather than the average Jingle Bell tunes. That choice was the spark that benefited but also made it difficult musically since he never learned to read it. That didn't stop him from doing what he loved, which was music. His dream was to become one of the best cuatro players and collaborate with his idol Yomo Toro, and in 1995 his dream came true. Not only was he recognized as the youngest cuatro player in the Tri State, but he performed live with Yomo Toro at a concert in the Newark City Hall.

Resume- In the summer of 1995, 14 year old Troke was the winner of a talent show held in the city of Newark, and was touring with several Jibaro artist all around NJ/NY. In August of 1997, he decided to expand and moved to Puerto Rico to complete his sophomore/junior year of high school. While in PR, he was apart of one of the most recognized high school bands and was the top student at Centro De Bellas Artes (Central Of Beautiful Arts) in Aguadilla, PR.

In 1998 he returned to Newark, NJ and continued his studies in Technology High. It was there, that Troke began to explore his talent in music.  Joining the schools latin band "Brisas Del Caribe" he was a percussionist, musical director, salsa choreographer, musician, and lead male vocalist of  the band. After graduating High School in 1999, he began working on what would be his introduction as a Hip Hop entrepreneur and released independently a compilation album under his own company Hazordouz Recordz in 2001. A year later Troke decided to take singing seriously, and was featured on songs of upcoming artist. Motivated by the response he would get from listeners, Singing became his main focus.

Showcasing himself in various talent shows, cultural events, parades and any where he would get the chance to sing, Troke was determined to make his presence felt as the newest voice in R&B Salsa-Soul. In September of 2003 he linked up with Producer/Engineer Ricardo Mendoza of R&J Recording Studio, and began recording songs for his album "Better Late Than Never".

2004 is a promising year for this 23 year old who's main focus is to succeed in his long awaited music career. So get your ears ready to hear something new, something fresh, some different. Get ready to hear TROKE.
